School Nurses – The Guardian for Children’s Health

School Nurses – The Guardian for Children’s Health

by BIS / 2020.06.30 Tuesday / Published in news & event

BIS sets two Nurse Rooms in Building H and Building A for the convenience of students. The two separate Nurse Rooms keep frequent contacts to guarantee the safety of all students. Entering into the Nurse Rooms, various types of medical equipment and materials provide a strong sense of safety for those who seek help.

A Good Start in the Morning

Morning check is regular for EY1 to EY4 students as it is one of the most important means to prevent common childhood infectious diseases. For those new students who have not yet adapt their life in school, nurses are always patient and caring. They knee down to build a bridge of communication with children and help relief them. If any student shows symptoms, our nurses will communicate efficient with students and parents to insure timely medical treatment or home quarantine. The Nurse Room is filled with warmth every morning, accompanied by children’s smiling faces and morning greetings.

Being Visited by Students Everyday

One of the daily works for nurses is to deal with some minor injuries or illness. You can never imagine how kids would injure themselves: except common problems like fall down, being kicked by balls, stomachache and cold, someone even gets dislocation due to horizontal bar pull-ups.

Students also came up with many special ‘medical needs’.

“I want to know my height.”

“I want to trim my nails.”

“Could you help check if my tooth grows or not?”

As it be, the Nurse Rooms are always busy.

Mature Emergency Process

The nurses will carefully check each student who come for help. For minor injuries, the students will be treated properly and leave with a brief note about the case and medical suggestions for parents. By this way, parents are able to treat the wounds at home. The communication between the school and parents is thus built.

Record Every Case

No matter for what reason a student comes, the nurses always listen to the symptoms patiently and record every case and visiting time. A daily medical information is kept.

Being Busy during the COVID-19 Pandemic

During the past half year, the school nurses and all administration staff have devoted themselves into the prevention against COVID-19 pandemic. To strengthen the fort of prevention. They have built a whole process of prevention, conducted health inspection of all teachers and staff and continued the temperature check routine every morning and afternoon.

A Memory of Growth in the Nurse Room

For BIS students, rather than a place for treatment, the nurse rooms are more like a little recreation room where they can share their little happiness. The nurses never stop sharing their love and care to the students.
