Week 3 – It’s A Jungle Out There!

Little Stars

Age 2 to 4

It was so wonderful to start a jungle adventure with children at the third week of BIS Early Years Summer Camp. This week has been a rich and busy one for all of us. It was so much fun for our children as they learnt new exciting things about the jungle, jungle animals and various types of wild animals. One of our favorite ways to kick off the jungle week was creating our own DIY jungle scene in the classroom with construction blocks and different kinds of loose parts!

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? COME AND JOIN US ON OUR JUNGLE ADVENTURE !

Digital Landscape

In digital environments, children act as authors and constructors of their own knowledge, and of their own individual and collective imaginations. We therefore set up a digital jungle landscape to provide scenes that are more relevant to the real life experience for children and encouraged them to discover the jungle from multiple points of view. We are very de-lighted to see that our children have showed great interest in exploring the jungle and wild animals with increasing multiple senses. All the children are fascinated by animal world when exploring the different sounds of animals noises, imitating how animals walk and play-ing with the shadows of our wild friends…

Themed Art Activities

Let children’s imaginations run wild with some fun jungle themed DIY crafts!

Snake Ssssss……The snakes are coiling up in the grass. We’re not afraid!

My Jungle – Let’s re-create color green

My Footprint – Wildlife footprint VS my footprint: Who wins?

The Great test of Footprints

There were so many horrible footprints in our classroom! We tried our best to figure out whose footprints they are.

Ms. Aida’s Class

During the third week of our Summer camp we continued the exploration through book Stories, songs and games more and more to gain all the vocabulary we need to be able to follow instructions and express our needs, feelings and wants in English.

Curious Mind

Age 4 to 6

Welcome to the third week newsletter of Curious Mind. This week’s theme was ‘It’s a jungle out there!’ we spent a lot of time on discussing about the jungle, animals and explorers to discover clear exploration clues before activity. On Monday we discussed about what is jungle and what can we see in the jungle, some children became interested in creating a jungle wall through painting or constructing, some were curious about animals that live in the jungle so they discussed about creating a jungle book by drawing animals and their tracks, and some built up a tent by using recycling materials for explorers to set up in the jungle. On Tuesday we had a special learning experience in a digital light room to discover the mysterious of jungle. Children can express themselves through sounds and movements. Some children imitated sounds and shapes of animals walking in the jungle. Some were very interested in the light that projected jungle on their clothes. They were immersed in that moment.

On Wednesday we reflected about the explorations during the last two days and then their idea of a role-play emerged. With teachers’ guide and motivation, children worked in teams to finish creating explorer’s outfit and stage properties, which stimulated children’s participation, and they learned how to express their ideas to team members in order to improve collaborative abilities. On Thursday children drew animals and their footprints that they were interested in according to their own preferences.

The activity not only exerted their imagination and creativity, but also improved their observation ability, concentration and literacy. During the practice of role-play, every child had to pay attention, practice their lines and movements. This helps them improve their abilities in all aspects such as listening, speaking, self-expression and teamwork.

On Friday children had the assembly with another two Little Stars groups. They overcame their inner fears and tensions, they tried their best on the stage. Stage performances play an important role in building their self-confidence. This will also encourage them to continue to try in the future.

Ms. Aida’s Class

During this third week of our Summer Camp we had fun working in phonics letter sounds and playing games such as rhyming words, bingo and snakes and ladders putting in practice our communication, thinking and social skills in order to improve them. We read every day a book from the Dr. Seuss collection having fun with the rhymes and the songs related with the books!!!

Dance Lessons

On Friday we had an amazing dance class with Ana, a G11 student. We stretched our muscles, we followed instructions in order to gain control of our movements and learn ways to express our emotions and feelings through our body in different ways.
