Parent Workshop

What the Future Holds: Majors vs. Skills

A Parent Workshop was held on January 8th, hosted by our Student Services Director and College Counsellor Mr Michael Wagner. G10 – G12 students also attended the workshop.

By sharing the latest trend of US college application, Mr Wagner provided parents and students with new concepts like Skills Mapping and 21st Century Skills.

P2 Bread Baking

P2 students are working on the Inquiring Unit of ‘What’s the Matter?’ – it’s about the properties of matter and how it can be combined or changed to make it useful. On January 8th, P2 students had a cooking lesson for bread baking. During the process, they looked at different ingredients used in making bread and discussed their properties, while also seeing how combining matter (ingredients) changed them into a new type of mater (dough) with new properties, then how heating the dough changed it again into bread.

P4 Migrate Talking

P4 has been inquiring into the reasons people migrate and the challenges they face during that time. Many BIS teachers have been willing to share their migration stories and have delivered presentations to the students. The students have been recording why they migrated, the challenges they faced along the way, and the impact of the migration.

They even got a chance to initiate a Skype call to a refugee who migrated from Iran to New Zeland. She presented her migration story to both P4 classes for about 45 minutes. Students found it very interesting to see the differences in why a refugee migrates against the reason we have migrated.

Basketball Tournament vs ISW

Panthers had a basketball tournament with ISW on January 8th! Both our girls and boys showed their energy and sportsmanship during the game.
