G10 MYP Personal Project Showcase

Our G10 students are concluding their MYP journey. As an essential part of their learning, they devoted lots of energy on their Personal Projects. On June 2nd, the secondary assembly provided a stage for them to present their outcomes.

The Personal Project is an independent and age-appropriate project that students undertake at the end of their MYP. The project itself should be based on an area of student’s personal interest or passion where students can apply and demonstrate their learning. Through the process of inquiry, action and reflection, students are encouraged to demonstrate and strengthen their ATL skills developed throughout the MYP. The independent nature of this project prepares students to pursue meaningful goals in their life, education, and the workplace as a lifelong learner.

The Personal Project allows students to explore an area that motivates and interests them. Students choose what they like to focus on, which can be an existing or a new project, select how to achieve their goals, and create their own success criteria for their product/outcome.

The Personal Project consists of three aspects which are a process, a product/outcome and a report. Through the process of creating a product/outcome, students explore an area that is personally meaningful, take ownership of their learning in a self-directed inquiry, and transfer and apply skills in pursuit of a learning goal and the creation of a product/outcome.

At the final stage, students prepare the maximum of 15-page long report that includes a bibliography and evidence from the process journal that documents student’s development and achievements. It is an opportunity for students to engage in a structured reflection on student’s process and product/outcome, allowing students to recognize and evidence their growth and development. While student’s report is the only component that is assessed, the report should reflect both entire process and their final product/outcome.
