Boston Explorers Leaving TRCSS

Boston Explorers of the new semester is coming! This year, we are excited to introduce a new concept that integrate with B.E programs entitled – TRCSS.

Approaches to learning (ATL) are skills designed to enable IB students to “learn how to learn.” At Boston International School, we not only implement ATLs in our continuum curricular of PYP, MYP and DP, but also take an exciting path to integrate them with our Boston Explorers program to create BE TRCSS.

What does TRCSS mean?

Integrated with Boston Explorers program, TRCSS stands for the skills of Thinking, Research, Communication, Self-management, Social. They are intended to provide a common language for teachers and students to use when reflecting and building on the process of learning.

In pronunciation, TRCSS sounds the same with the word TRACKS. Of course our Boston Explorers will leave their TRCSS!

At least two ATLs will be implicitly and explicitly embedded into day-to-day learning experiences in BEs, so that students have opportunities to practice and develop a range of ATL skills. With this level of intentionality BEs now possess an added dimension and eventual end product per session.

For example: Skateboarding

Thinking and Self management

Planning a personal plan on improving skills and learning new tricks and technique.

Social

Working together to host the first skate competition for BIS.

Research

At each appropriate level, understand the history and evolution of the skateboard and the sport.

Product

all students will give a demonstration at the end of the session.

B.E Fair

To give a direct demonstration of our abundant B.E. programs, we held B.E. fairs for our students and parents. More than 80 programs were exhibited, covering various areas of sports, arts, academics and student interests.
