Lifelong Learning – Official IB Workshop

IB workshops play an essential role for IB Schools. IB workshops serve as a powerful tool to ensure IB World Schools and their teachers meet professional learning requirements that guarantee stronger programme implementation and positive student outcomes. IB teachers must be given access to:

• high quality professional development that encourages critical thinking, self-reflection and dedication to lifelong learning and continuous improvement

• innovative and diverse education frameworks, unit planners, teaching resources, and evaluation tools

• certification and degree programs offered by highly respected universities worldwide

• a pedagogy known to produce students who are motivated to continue inquiry and lifelong learning, beyond school study.

As the only IB Continuum school in Wuxi, BIS sees teachers as essential to the success of the school and as part of a professional learning community. To support them, we offer extensive professional development.

On March 5th and 6th, BIS held a two-day online IB workshop for teachers and related staff members, where they were given the opportunity to work with some very experienced IB professionals and their fellow colleagues for learning, discussing, reflection and further implementation.

Workshop Leaders

Resham Premchand is currently working at the University of Hong Kong. She is an IB educator, workshop leader and evaluator, alongside with WASC. Resham has worked in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and  – now back in Hong Kong. Resham throughly enjoys working with students and teachers and stretching their thinking.

Jarrett Brown is currently the MYP Coordinator at Leman International School in Chengdu, China. He teaches MYP Language and Literature, I&S, Language Acquisition and Personal Project. He is an MYP Workshop Leader, Site Visitor, Reader, and Building Quality Curriculum senior reviewer.

Previously, he has worked in international schools in a variety of roles including Action and Service Coordinator, Individuals and Societies Department Head, Camp Coordinator and Swim Team Coach. He has worked at Suzhou Singapore International School, Qatar Academy and the American International School of Salzburg, and had a lovely visit to Boston International School in November 2018 for a previous workshop.

Currently, Shameek is the Head of Secondary and IB Diploma Coordinator at Ningbo Huamao International School. Shameek works for the IB as a Workshop leader for multiple disciplines, School Team Visitor, Moderator and curriculum reviewer. Shameek is also the DP Chair of the Eastern China and Shanghai network.
