Study with Online Learning Program 2.0

Our commitment is to provide a blended form of education to meet the needs of all of our students. Most students will return to school, yet some are still overseas and will not be participating in face-to-face learning. Some students will continue to engage entirely via online learning. If we incorporate elements of both blended learning and flipped-classroom we should be able to accommodate all of our students.

Critical Attributes of Blended Learning
  • Students learn via electronic and online media as well as traditional face-to-face teaching.
  • Combines online educational materials and opportunities for interaction online with traditional place-based classroom methods.
  • Students have control over time, place, path, or pace.

Critical Attributes of a Flipped Classroom
  • Students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home.
  • Gives the teacher an opportunity to address mixed levels, student difficulties, and differentiated learning styles during in-class time.
  • Moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom.

In upper Elementary (Grades 3-5), we are delighted to have the majority of students back in class. It has been fantastic to see them face-to-face again. We still have some students overseas, and we are yet to receive confirmation of when our lower Elementary and Early Years students are able to join us.
Grades 4 and 5
In Grades 4 and 5, our homeroom teachers are busy provideing face-to-face content in classrooms while also working on the online learning for students who are still unable to join us. Teachers are coordinating their lesson content from the homerooms and providing guidance where needed.

Grades 3
In Grade 3, two homeroom teachers are getting back into face to face learning and working with another teacher to deliver online content that reflects closely the activities that are happening in the classroom.

Grades 1 and 2, Early Years
As our lower Elementary classes and our Early Years are not back yet, our homeroom teachers and specialists will continue to deliver content that is age and stage appropriate, that challenges our learners to continue their learning online. You may already notice a greater use of video callsto students, with teachers thinking of new ways to engage their students online.

At BIS, we strongly believe learning should be engaging and fun. If your child is struggling with their work, please contact their homeroom teacher or one of our SCLs for help. Home learning should not be a struggle, or a fight. No learning should be a struggle or a fight. We are here to help in whatever way we can. If you are looking for advice or support, please get in touch.
