Great Achievement on the “China in Paintings’ Contest

The 4th Wuxi ‘China In paintings’ Contest was wrapped up with an award ceremony ,Boston international School is honored to have the largest number of winners with 7 students in the 1st place and also 37 students in the 2nd and 3rd places. BIS Art teachers Loren and Olivia were also recognized as the excellent Tutors. As a school, BIS is among the two international schools in Wuxi which won the outstanding organization award in this event! Congratulations to our students and teachers! “China In Paintings’ Contest is an annual event organized by  Wuxi  International Education Exchange Center who is subordinate to Wuxi Education Bureau .The event aims to encourage foreign students in Wuxi to learn more about Chinese culture, natural landscape, customs and history, promote the international culture exchange and improve students’  art accomplishment.

 

Parent/ Teacher Conference

From November 16th – 19th, We held four sessions of Parent/ Teacher Conference for this semester. We set up booths for each homeroom and subject teacher in the gym, allowing parents to find and talk to them more conveniently.

In the sessions, parents were free to choose all or some of the teachers to discuss on the students’ academic performances as well as other social skills development. The Parent/ Teacher Conference is held twice a year at BIS for parents to learn more about the students’ advantages and find their weaknesses.

 

University Visit

On November 19th, we were excited to welcome two admission officers on campus after several sessions of virtual college fairs!  Ms. Zoe Yao from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Mr. Jin Yongqiang from UM-SJTU Joint Institute gave students a general view of the schools and students had the opportunity to get their questions answered by the officers.

 

Chinese Tea Culture Sharing Session

On November 18th, our Korean parents were excited to experience and learn in a Chinese Tea Culture Sharing Session brought by the Tea institute, Jue. They enjoyed the Chinese tea specially made by the professional tea masters, while also tried to make a cup of tea for themselves.

 

Coffee with Counsellor

On November 10th, Mr. Carlos Arboleda, our Student Services Director and College Counsellor held coffee session with parents and shared some experiments on family education.

Mr. Arboleda gave parents suggestions on family education and created a great atmosphere of discussion. Parents were happy to have this opportunity to share their relevant experiences with each other.

 

Elementary Assembly

On December 12th, G2 students presented a song from the Little Highway Heroes program based on their Social Emotional Program and their unit of inquiry around role models and admirable people.

The song they performed talks about the different types of bumps we can face – in the classroom, or in the playground. We will learn tools or strategies to help ourselves when we come across these Bumps so we can be highway heroes and continue on our growing up journey!

 

Korean College Information Session

On November 12, a Korean College Information session was held for Korean parents and students from secondary school, on which lots of useful strategies and experiments on Korean college application were shared.

A Korean DP student first shared some of her experiences in DP studies. Followed by the main session delivered by Mr. Ju, our secondary Korean teacher, about Korean university application. The topic covered all the information parents are interested in, from how BIS supports students for Korea university, what students need to prepare and the qualification of Korean university application, etc.

 

Parent Workshop

Aesthetic – Start by Cultivating Drawing

On November 17th, Ms. Emma Shang, EY Senior Manager gave parents a guidance on the development of children’s aesthetic by cultivating their drawing abilities.

21st Century Students

On November 19th, Mr. Carlos Arboleda, our Student Services Director and College Counsellor presented his understanding regarding to 21st century and the importance of family education.
