Writing university application was indeed difficult, but it was also a good opportunity to think and get to know about myself.
Through this process, I’ve come to realize how important it is to take time to constantly think/reflect upon yourself and your life-long goal not only for the university application but for your future.
Glad that IB DP is finally over, though I will miss the people in school very much.

Grades are important, and it is crucial to keep them consistent. Not everyone will be able to be a straight-A student, and I definitely was not one either, as the pressure and stress will eventually build up and you might reach a low point academically. However, what makes the difference is the effort you put into keeping it consistent, every student has ups and downs and it is just important to not let yourself off the hook. However, grades are definitely not everything either, personal character and experiences are equally as important. Universities are not looking for studying machines who are engineered to sit and study all day and ace an exam at the end of the semester, they are looking for well-rounded, capable individuals who will benefit from and contribute to communities of other students. They want people who will be able to enrich the environment which they end up in, they want to see someone with hobbies and ambitions, no matter what they may be outside of school. It is important to go outside and see the world, experience new things, challenge yourself, while of course keeping your life balanced. It has to be a good balance of academics, personal interests, and social life.
Time management is the most important thing to take into consideration during the process, it will not help if you are rushing your application the night before the deadline, as schools will be able to tell when you do that. That only tells them that you may not be taking the process as seriously as other individuals, who may be more deserving for a spot at their university. Talk to your parents, let them know what you are doing as you go through the process, they can help a lot and offer advice on things which you may have not considered in choosing colleges (weather, location, safety, living costs), after all, they have been through the process before you.
It is quite sad to think about leaving for summer vacation and not coming back to see the group of people I usually would after 2 months of summer vacation. It is a little scary having to leave behind so many people which I care for so deeply, and will not be able to see. I hope I will get to see most people again if I visit. For my fellow seniors, I feel the same sense of sadness, but of course, I also feel proud and excited about all the achievements which we have earned together. Graduating with this group of people, some of which I have known for 6 years, makes the bond a little more unique than the bonds I have with others. Generally, I am excited to be able to go down a new path of discovering new things and experiences new things. It will be cool to be studying the areas which I am passionate about. Pertaining to BIS specifically, though IB is grueling and admittedly I would never like to experience the stress it brings me again, after graduating, it undoubtedly is a unique program which pushes out well-rounded people with exceptional critical thinking skills and the ability to look at the world around them with their own interpretations but also with the ability to do so through the lens of other people. 12 years from grade school to the end of high school have shaped me into a unique individual with unique experiences and thoughts, it excites me even more to think about how I will have changed as a person by the end of 4 years in college as well.

It was a long journey to apply to universities specially as I am applying to 10 universities in Hong Kong, Canada and South Korea. As universities have different procedures and requirements, please take time to organize the list of universities you want to apply, and prepare their requirements (such as resume and personal statement) before it comes to the deadline. Remember to ask for a help to college counselor if you are not sure about anything in the application procedure. You are the first time to do this but our college counselor has done these many times, and his advice will help you a lot. Also, if you can, apply many universities as you can to broad your range of choice (but not too much and if you do, it may take all of your precious time in D2).
It is very exciting to start a new journey in the university, but also, I am sad to leave BIS, as BIS is the longest school that I was attending in my life. Attending in BIS changed me a lot, by providing high-quality education, and various activities for students to build up their leadership, and participating sports tournament helped me to develop my sports skills and make good memories with my friends in BIS.

Choosing the major and the universities was one of the biggest decisions I have ever made in my life. It makes you question what you really want to do in life, your overall strengths and weaknesses, your passions, engaging in the “Knowing, Finding and Understanding Myself” process.
Advice:
● Talking with someone who has first-hand or professional experience (i.e. School Counselor, teachers, family members) is very useful.
● Remember that top universities will not guarantee your life success: it is all about the way you do things and how you achieve your goals.
● Also, you don’t have to go to college right away, it is a choice. Take your time because it is never too late to start a new adventure!
