Review on an Exciting Academic Year of 2018/2019

As a newly opened school, we have gone through a very special and exciting first year with the joint effort of our students, parents, faculty, staff, as well as the government. At the end of this academic year, we would like to share all the fascinating moments with you.

01 Authorization and Accreditation

We are pleased to announce that Boston International School has been officially authorized as a Cambridge International School from Jan 2019. (Welcome new Cambridge International Schools)

Till now BIS has been fully authorized by IB organization to offer IB Continuum Curriculum, including the PYP, MYP and DP. Besides, BIS has also been accredited by Council of International Schools (CIS), Western Academy of Schools and Colleges (WASC), National Center for School Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT), in meeting the world class standards and practices set by those leading accreditation agencies.

02 Academics

University Visits

We have welcomed admission officers from global top universities to our campus, including Boston University, Hongkong Polytechnic University and Ritsumeikan University. Our students would have the opportunity to communicate with these officers face to face.

M5 Personal Projects

The Personal Project is the culmination for M5 students. This was the chance for these students to research and create a project that truly reflected their interests. They researched projects on sleep and gambling, cats and detectives with social media and music.

Science Fair

As part of the IB program students have to do investigations in science. Students should have a clear and focused research question, use scientific techniques to collect data, analyze the data, and write a conclusion that supports the research question. The students should show independent thinking in the design, implementation or presentation of the investigation.

PYP Exhibition

In PYP Exhibition, our P5 students divided themselves into small groups and picked up a topic and gave their splendid presentations, which drew a perfect conclusion to their PYP Study.

World Scholar’s Cup

The World Scholar’s Cup attracts a global community of student leaders and empowers participants to enhance both social and academic skills. It focuses on bringing students from different cultures together to discuss issues and ideas relevant today. Our students won a number of individual and group awards in this competition, and all of them won the tickets for the next round of the global competition.

BIS Scholarship Program

Boston International School has pleased to announce the launch of the 2019-2020 Scholarship Program in order to assist students with good academic performance. Several of our outstanding students have got the scholarship and we are still looking forward to more candidates.

03 Professional Development

Our teachers are dedicated to improving their professional skills through various development programs.

IB Conference

The annual IB Global Conference 2019 has been taken place in Hong Kong. Boston International School sent a team of experienced managers and teachers: Executive President Ms. Sue Su, Executive Principal Mr. Rob Stewart, Secondary Principal Ms. Ann Wagner, DP Coordinator and Science Teacher Mr. Matthew Kirk and MYP Coordinator Mr. Robert Young.

ELL Conference

ACAMIS ELL Conference 2019 took place in Shenzhen. Our MYP Coordinator Mr. Robert Young and Head of ELL and World Languages Ms. Kim Peters attended the conference on behalf of Boston International School.

Curriculum Review

Through this semester year, our teaching staff and teaching assistants gathered in school regularly for Curriculum Review. They reviewed on the currently implemented IB program and strived to make improvements accordingly.

Parent Workshop

To help parents better understand our education system, a series of Parent Workshop were held.

04 School Events

As an international school, we respect different cultures all around the world. Through this academic year, a lot of events emphasizing various cultures have been held inside and outside school.

Halloween
