April 2021 – Science Fair
The Science Fair has provided students with a great stage to perform their creative minds and research outcomes. The research projects covered various areas from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Health Science, Design and other subjects.
April 2021 – G10 Personal Project
The personal project formally assesses students’ approaches to learning (ATL) skills for self-management, research, communication, critical and creative thinking, and collaboration. In April, our G10 students presented their Personal Project by presentations and exhibition. This was the culmination of many months of work being done by each G10 student.
April 2021 – G8 Community Project
The IB Community Project focuses on community and service. Students get the opportunity to explore their right and responsibility to implement service as action in the community. By researching the needs of various communities, planning the service, do the action and reflection after the service, the students develop a deeper sense of empathy and understanding of their role in their own community, the local and global.
June 2021 – PYP Exhibition
On the same day of G5 Graduation, our G5 students held their PYP Exhibition to present their inquiry into how people can effectively ‘Share the Planet’. Through its inquiry-led, transdisciplinary framework, IBPYP challenges students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real-life contexts.
November 2020 – ASDAN Business Simulation Regional Round
On November 7th and 8th, BIS hosted ASDAN Business Simulation Regional Game for Eastern China, which is the first-ever ASDAN Business Simulation held in Wuxi. 15 teams from 7 schools of Eastern China gathered at BIS. BIS students achieved 3 Brand Awards, 1 Business Battle Winner and 2 ASDAN UK Enterprise Awards.
November 2020 – American Math Competition 8
Boston International School hosted the annual American Mathematics Competitions 8 (AMC 8) on November 11, 2020. Among the competitors, 3 students from our secondary school were awarded DISTINCTION, 15 students awarded CREDIT, 30 students awarded PROFICIENCY.
On the Art Show of 2020 Wuxi International Friendship Culture Week, Representatives from BIS foreign faculty team presented a wonderful Broadway-style show of ‘The greatest Showman’. The Singing and Dancing with great passion and friendly smile faces from the teachers generated the enthusiasm of all the audiences down stage.
November 2020 – Book Week
To provide opportunities for the school community to connect with books and rekindle their love for reading, various kinds of activities and fairs related to reading were held during Book Week.
With the policy of “actively promote(s) the philosophy and fundamental concepts of the IB Programs, we focused on structured inquiry, holistic education, communication, intercultural awareness and international mindedness.” The library aims to facilitate curriculum delivery, and reading for enjoyment, by providing current and relevant resources for the school community.
October 2020 – Halloween Party
At the end of October, BIS has turned into a haunted campus that filled with spirits, elves and ghosts! We had great fun in the grand Halloween Party with all kinds of activities!
December 2020 – Winter Concert
During the Christmas season, we organized various kinds of events and activities to celebrate the holiday, among which the most exciting one is our winter concert.
February 2021 – Chinese New Year Show
Given the situation of the sporadic outbreak of COVID-19, the students celebrated the Chinese New Year with their performance being recorded that could be kept as a lasting memory.
April 2021 – Wuxi Marathon
This year, our BIS running team participated in the 2021 Wuxi Marathon, led by Executive President Ms. Sue Su and witnessing the great moments of this beautiful spring season.
May 2021 – International Day
On May 15th, the school was thrilled to bring the annual festival back after a year’s suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BIS community was actively involved in the event organization and keen to display their culture. Over 40 booths representing more than 20 countries over the world have shown their ethic culture, traditional food and fun activities.
June 2021 – Week Without Walls
BIS students enjoyed their time in the Week Without Wall program. The students were separated into different groups according to their grade and headed to five cities, where they had to work together as a team and use their communication and creativity skills to complete activities and get through challenges.
Movember (a portmanteau of the Australian-English diminutive word for moustache, “mo”, and “November”) is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues. At BIS, we continued the idea Movember into “Movember & More”-other groups are also taken into consideration. Thus, we shaved moustache and dyed, cut teachers’ hair! The final ticket sales profit will be donated to the China Cancer Foundation to help people who are in need.
June 2021 – Appreciation Award from local animal shelter
Our G10 students have kept contact with a local animal shelter since 2019. During the past two years, they have raised and donated money to the shelter through bake sale, lucky draw and other student-led activities. To appreciate their kind donation, the animal shelter rewarded the school with an appreciation award.
June 2021 – Wheels Day
Designed by a group of G5 students, Wheels Day allows students to bring their bikes, boards and scooters, etc to school after paying 20 yuan to charity. All the donation fundraised will be donated to a Primary School in Yan’an, Shaanxi Province through Xinwu Red Cross Society afterwards.
March & May 2021 – World Travel Without Boundaries
2021 BIS International Volunteer Service Project themed ‘World Travel without Boundaries’ started with the first and second session of Travel in Asia and Oceania. Our teachers and students from different countries introduced their culture, food, customs, and landmarks to the local community.
During the past school year, our Panthers have shown their persistence and sportsmanship in around 40 games and tournaments in and out of Wuxi.
Boston Orchestra
Established in November 2020, the BIS orchestra has enthusiastically practiced for 7 months. They have accumulated a lot of stage experience during school activities on campus and several charity performance around Wuxi, like in MixC and other local schools.
Boston Mural
After a whole month of design, drafting and coloring, the Fine Arts team guided our students to complete a mural! The brilliant mural shows our school spirit while conveying the messages of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, BPA organized the second Christmas Charity Bazaar on December 11th in the school gym. More than 50 organizations and institutes have participated in the bazaar, including parents, students, teachers and other groups from outside the school.
