Causes of the First World War/ Fighting the First World War
One of the summative assessment tasks that the Grade Seven I & S class were asked to prepare was a research project and presentation on colonialism. This involved preparing awritten summary explaining pre-colonial existence, the effects of invasion by a colonial empire and presenting pictorial evidence of the relationship between the metropole (empire) and the colony created.
Also, a spoken presentation was prepared by every class member with a PowerPoint prepared to accompany their speech and as a vehicle for the pictures and visuals chosen for the third section. The spoken presentation, audience participation, citations and format and reflections were all graded on an IB MYP assessment criteria rubric. The skills being assessed were Investigating and Communicating.
