Going through the college search process, students are looking for an institution where they are going to spend the next four years. The campus is going to be their home away from home, and the one that’s chosen should also be a place where the study environment and facilities allow students to accomplish the goals, both short and long-term.
On November 28th, the D1 and D2 students of Boston International School were scheduled for college visit. Only this time, they didn’t come to us, we went to visit them! Jiangnan University, here we come!
More than printed materials, websites, and visits from admissions representatives, college visits allow students to get a true feeling of the campus environment. It is a very good opportunity to evaluate an institution first hand, the academics, the living arrangements, the athletics and more.
Before the tour starts, Ms. Yang from School of International Education (SIE) gave everyone a warm welcome and introduced Jiangnan University and the majors they are offering. Besides the regular 4-year college program, Jiangnan University is cooperating with many universities overseas for joint programs.
After the very thorough school introduction, students went to one of the most popular exhibition center in Jiangnan University, the Folk Costumes Exhibition Center, operated by School of Textile and Clothing, which is a very popular major in Jiangnan University.
Then students headed to the Jiangnan University Library, which has a collection of more than 700,000 books. One interesting thing that Ms. Yang mentioned, was the mascot for Jiangnan University, the little turtle, Chinese name is “Xiao Yuan”. With the saying goes, “if you touch Xiao Yuan’s head, you are going to do well in exams”, how can our students miss this lucky time!
Lastly, whether you are hoping to attend a college close to home or somewhere around the world, it’s always important to visit the campuses before making your final decision. College visits are an integral part of the college search process.

Jiangnan University
Jiangnan University is directly under the Ministry of Education of China, the “211 project” and the first-class discipline construction university. It has 116 years of history, 18 colleges covering 10-discipline categories, 6 post-doctoral mobile stations, 7 primary doctoral disciplines, 34 primary master’s disciplines, 3274 staff, 20403 undergraduates, 8686 postgraduates and 170000alumi globally.
Jiangnan University started to cultivate international students from 1964, and now cooperates with 126 universities and research institutes from 28 countries and regions. It has 21 international joint laboratories and received 1276 international students in 2017.
