Principal Tea

We started the first session of Principal Tea in this semester from September 17th. Our Academic Principal Mr. Brian Rotunno extended his warm welcome to present parents and briefed them about the new academic updates from this semester in each department. Parents also got the opportunity to communicate with the principal directly about their concerns and suggestions. The next session of Parent Workshop will be held on September 24th.

G1 – An Exploration at Police Station

G1 students are currently going through the unit on Communities, with the main aim of learning how different people in our community help us.
On September 14th, they went on a trip to the Police Station of Xinan Community.

The officers at the police station showed the children how they protect the community through use of surveillance systems and patrolling of the neighborhood. The students also got to see the lights/signs used to manage traffic, various equipment used to apprehend law breakers, as well as had a chance to learn about the equipment in a police car.

The students were shown the inside of the police station with areas that included where complaints are lodged, and where surveillance cameras are kept so that they can monitor and be aware of what is happening in the surrounding community.

We’d also like to extend our thanks to all the police officers from the Police Station of Xinan Community, who made G1’s trip more meaningful and furthermore, who have been working hard to ensure the safety of our community.

G5 students have successfully completed their first podcast for this year. Using their reading lessons every week, students are allowed to read and research on content of their choice and then explain their findings through a podcast. It has been a unique learning experience for students as a new way of inquiry.

The following is the guidance about how to subscribe our podcast channel “BIS”. They will update their new findings every week!

Japanese-style Summer Festival in Touwaen

As an international school, we embrace and respect different cultures from all around the world. On September 12th, we were very happy to participate in the Summer Festival organized by Touwaen Service Department.

The booth of BIS provided traditional Japanese civil games like Kendama and Origami which cheered up all participators, while also attracted lots of children to experience the fun activity with some colorful face-paintings.
