G9 Bake Sale

G9 students hosted a Bake Sale on December 10th. The students showed their care withhandmade cookies, cakes, candies, burgers, etc. A total of 3800RMB was raised and the enitre sales revenue will be donated to Wuxi Animal Shelter.

G9-G12 Hynix Visit

On December 6th, Secondary students from G9-G12 paid a visit to SK Hynix, a South Korean memory semiconductor supplier of DRAM chips and flash memory chips. It was a student-led field trip, composed of a factory part and a marketing part.

In the factory portion, students witnessed the making and the delivery of the semi-conductor and learned about facts like how semi-conductors are made and how important is semi-conductors. In the marketing part, they learned how semi-conductors are used in daily lives. Students also learned that Hynix is also devoting itself in improving human well-being. For example, making a mini semi-conductor which can be breathed in to cure cancer.

PKG Field Trip

As a culmination of the current unit of inquiry on ‘Living Things’, PKG students went on their field trips. PKGb students went on a field trip to the Zoo at at MixC mall on December 6th, while PKGa students went to the Aquarium at Sunac Mall on December 12th.

The field trips enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of the central idea ‘Living things have specific needs to grow‘. Their inquiry went further using the three aspects from the lines of inquiry – characteristics, habitat and our responsibilities towards these animals.

Parent Workshop – The Importance of Play for Student Well-being

On December 6th, our SEN Coordinator Ms. Rebekah Wallace and Guidance Counselor Dr. Ollie Peters held the last session of Parent Workshops for this semester. They shared thebenefits of play for children from infancy and toddler, to pre-primary, elementary and adolescents. They also discussed with parents about how to balance students’ play and study.

David Reid’s Ink Painting Workshop

On December 7th, parents and students spent an afternoon with Independent artist Mr. David Reid and his second session of the Ink Painting workshop. David has developed a unique way of making paintings and works on paper, which employs some of the major ideas and explores many of the materials found in Chinese art while never seeming to imitate them. During the workshop, participates were also encouraged to express themselves with techniques originated from traditional Chinese painting.

Panthers Game Review

Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

Last weekend, P5-G8 students visited Shanghai American School to compete in an Ultimate Frisbee tournament. The students had a wonderful time competing with other teams.

Basketball Tournament vs ULINK

On December 11th, our girls’ basketball team competed in a game with ULINK.
