Award-winning Author Visited

http://www.bostonis.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/BIS_Trevor_1106_1.mp4

Trevor Lai, an award-winning author, illustrator and entrepreneur who has published more than 25 books, paid his visit on Nov 6 to Boston International School as one of many initiatives of the School Library to foster a reading culture across the school. Trevor’s impressive presentation had an awesome and memorable turnout on students and the school’s community.

During his interaction with Primary School students, Trevor talked about the Power of Imagination and what helped him succeed as found his own path. As little as he could remember, he surrounded himself with books and spent hours reading and drawing. He also showed students how he can draw a T-Rex in less than 1 min (to be honest he did it in 46 sec)!

In the Secondary School session, he mainly focused on what it took him to be an author, how students can pursue their dreams, how to express themselves creatively and how he created a successful startup in Suzhou by applying these strategies in the animation industry to create Super BOOMi, Piggy, Tomo and more recently Monkey Me, and so much more!

We also would like to hereby express our gratitude towards the Boston Parent Associationfor donating 5000RMB to School Library!

Panther Hosted Soccer Tournament

On Nov 2nd, a Soccer Tournament was held at BIS for middle school soccer players from four international schools.
The tournament included both boys’ and girls’ games. Bathing in the beautiful sunshine, both our Panthers and their counterparts kicked with strength and strategy and while dripping sweat showed an elegance of sportsmanship, persistence, and resilience.

The hard work of our young players became the seed of their friendships. Students fromdifferent schools and different nationalities enjoyed a pleasant time together.

P1 Clinic Experience

On Nov 1, P1 visited the Columbia Clinic as part of their unit on Communities. Throughcommunicating with doctors and practicing with each other, these little doctors had their special experiences. P1 students will continue their communicating tours while learning this unit.

Primary Parent/ Teacher Conference

Our Primary Parent/ Teacher Conferences took place on Nov 5 and Nov 7 after Secondary School smoothly finished the Parent/ Teacher Conference last week. Parents got to have the opportunity to communicate with teachers, getting to know students’ academic performances.

Enjoy Scottish Ceilidh Dancing

What can be more enjoyable to conclude a week than some fun country dancing? On Nov 1, a Friday afternoon, faculty and staff members shared a pleasant time talking, eating, as well as ceilidh dancing! Such activity also played an important role for everyone with different culture background to know each other better!
