TWT – The WISE TALK is a newly launched guest speaker programme, at BIS secondary school, which is dedicated to inspiring high school students with different possibilities of career paths. TWT invites leading professionals from different fields to deliver a 1-hour talk to the BIS high school students.
Many students possibly think engineering is boring and dull. Some girls might just consider themselves are not made for being engineers, as most engineers are currently men. Our very first TWT speaker Mr. Andy Airulla from The Timken Company- The world-leading bearing manufacturer used his experience to break all these cliche sayings. He shared with the students the reality of an engineer’s life – it has fun, pain, happiness, and fulfillment.
‘ Being an engineer is not easy, I was a top student at high school but the years at Ohio State studying mechanical engineering was really, really hard. ‘
‘All the young ladies here today, you should discover your potential in more fields. There are so many things you can do, of course, engineering is the first thing you should try!’
‘Engineers are not nerds. You need to be good at communicating and listening to customers’ requirements. We listen to the customers and make impossible ideas into real products.’
