01 Academic Progress

Secondary School Design Cycle

Our new Design Cycle classes in our secondary school provide a choice of courses for students which all integrate the design cycle in different disciplines. Courses include Model United Nations, Theatre Production, Entrepreneurship, STEM/ Robotics, AP Environmental Science, and AP Computer Science Principles.

Primary School Phonics

Phonics training has been introduced in our primary school for all our young learners to help them develop their English language and reading skills. Second language learning is also offered for primary school students from EY4.

University Visit

BIS is proud of its signature College Counseling Program. The program not only prepares students for academic work at the university level, but also assists students in finding the university with the right fit. While learning about the more than 20 universities which have visited BIS this semester, these visits also provide opportunities for our students and parents to communicate directly with admission officers and provide an opportunity for students to discover their passions and what they truly want to do.

Artist in Residence Program

Independent artist, Mr. David Reid, ran a 3-month art program for two weeks each month. As an artist with over 30 years of art practice, David has developed a unique way of making paintings and works on paper, which inspired our students and expanded their horizon of art.

School Library

BIS School Library has endeavored to provide opportunities for the school community to connect with books and rekindle their love for reading. This semester, we welcomed an award-winning author, illustrator, and entrepreneur, Mr. Trevor Lai, to visit the school.

A 3-day Winter Book Fair also took place with a total revenue reaching 16,000 RMB!

Boarding System

The residential program opened for students from G6. More than 20 students are enjoying their boarding life on campus. With an advanced facility, high security, and strong academic support, students from inside and outside if Wuxi are well cared for on campus.

02 Professional Development

IB Official Training

As the ONLY IB Continuum school in Wuxi, BIS sees ongoing teacher development as essential to the success of the school and values teachers as part of a professional learning community. To support them, BIS offers extensive professional development opportunities both inside and outside the campus. BIS held a two-day workshop, during which teachers were given the opportunity to work with some very experienced IB professionals. Teachers also attended regional IB workshops.

Teacher In-Service

This semester, teachers gathered after school monthly for Teacher In-Service sessions. Teacher In-Service is set once per month for teachers to meet and learn more about pedagogy, curriculum, and many other important topics in order to deliver the best lessons to students.

Parent Workshop

To help parents better understand our education system and better able them to help their children at home, a series of Parent Workshop were held.

Principal Tea

Parents had opportunities to share their time with our divisional principles to learn more information about the school and have direct dialog on their suggestions.

Parent/ Teacher Conference

Both the Primary School and Secondary School held Parent/ Teacher Conferences, at which parents communicates with teachers regarding their children’s academic performances.

03 Major Events

Week Without Walls

Secondary students enjoyed amazing Week Without Walls (WWW) trips this semester. Students were divided into different groups and paid visits to FIVE beautiful cities in China. All the activities during WWW provided the students with new skills, abilities, knowledge, and understanding.

Halloween Party

We celebrated the most creative day of the year!  Students and teachers alike dressed up in costumes and celebrated with a parade, trick-or-treating, a haunted house, and a scary movie.

Boston Panthers

Boston Panthers have represented BIS well in sports and competitions. As members of ACAMIS, SYAC and CISSA, the school hosted a cross country tournament, basketball and soccer games, while also participating in games held at other schools in and around Wuxi.

Boston Explorers Program

The newly created Boston Explorers Program (B.E.) provided a variety of co-curricular activities after school.  Students were offered more than 90 choices of activities each quarter including clubs, academic support, and sports programs.

House System

BIS students belong to four houses: the Phoenix House, the Dragon House, the Qilin House and the Tianma House. Instilling healthy competition among houses, students have the opportunity to compete with one another and earn points for their house, collaborating and sharing a community across grade levels.

Government Collaboration

With attention and support from our leaders and collaborative counterparts in all sectors of local society, Boston International School continued to work with local colleagues to help with development and meet the demand for upgrading the regional industrial structure. BIS responded to regional development needs and has integrated into the regional cultural and economic development blueprint with deep and active involvement in social activities and community service.

A special thanks to Boston Parent Association for supporting BIS with many events.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! We look forward to an even more exciting second semester!
