To continue to support our parents in understanding more about IB Education and framework, on February 20th 2019, Boston International Held the very first Parent Workshop for the second semester, An Introduction to PYP, by our PYP Coordinator, Mr. Neil Westcott.
With over 10 years of experience working with the PYP as a homeroom teacher, specialist and coordinator, Mr. Westcott brought an extensive resources to our PYP Learning. He started the workshop by collecting the questions that parents currently have in regards to PYP curriculum, so that he will be able to better address them during the presentation.
Mr. Westcott once again addressed the 5 essential elements of PYP learning: Attitudes, Skills, Action, Concepts and knowledge. He also cited several examples of the previous projects conducted by PYP students, which reflects all these 5 essential elements through the process of completing those projects.
He also compared the traditional classroom vs. PYP classroom, and showed our parents some differences between traditional teachings vs. the inquiry based PYP learning process.
On Wednesday February 27th, BIS will be offering the next Parent Workshop, What is an IBMYP Education? We are looking forward to seeing you again!
