Parent Letter – Start of OLL 2.0

Parent Letter – Start of OLL 2.0

by BIS / 2020.04.13 Monday / Published in news & event

Message from Executive Principal

Dear Parents,

This week we start the phase 2 of Online Learning.
– Early years and Elementary:
The Elementary and EY are very excited to begin the next version of online learning: OLL 2.0. Teachers will be setting up live video sessions with students in order to personally engage them in sessions throughout this week. This will be in addition to our home learning menus and other videos currently taking place. While we realize that everyone’s internet connections and availability are different, we see this as an opportunity to continue working with students to guide them in their learning online.
– Secondary:
Starting Monday, April 13th, Boston International School Secondary will transition into a new online learning program. From Monday on, students who continue to work online will have many real time Teams classes that meet during their regular class periods. As such, each student will be expected to login to Managebac by 8:15am each day to check the work for the day and to plan for the classes that will be meeting live for the day. Teachers will advise students on which days they will be meeting live and which days they will be working offline. This program will be further developed in the Secondary Division over the next few weeks. We look forward to having students back on campus and continuing to engage our online students in learning.

Thank you for your continued support.

Rob Stewart
Executive Principal

Education is the cornerstone of any child’s upbringing, as it is the time when a child will learn about literature, science, math, and the world-at-large. Because education is such a crucial aspect of modern life, it’s important to get your child started early.

With the current epidemic situation and safety conditions, so we chose the online course which will help your child as well as walk you through the process of getting started for making that transition as smooth as possible after back to school.

Here are a few screenshots for you that should be easy to get more information.

01 Start for Teaching Online Course

At the start of each lesson, EY1&EY2 Teachers are going to have a productive meeting to formulate weekly online course activities in an innovative way. We’ve designed the course focuses specifically on teaching children who are 2 to 4 years old within this age group, and how to provide a safe and effective educational atmosphere for our children.

02

Parents and children may access to all of the online course resources via classdojo easily.

03 Purpose and Reason for online course

Weekly online course topic may include expressive arts, such as music, dance, drama, arts, crafts, physical, storytelling, science etc. Our children have opportunities for hands-on practice at home.

04 Purpose and Reason for Activities

Play/ Games is the first way that children learn to make sense of the world at their young age. They are exploring different roles, learning how things work, and learning to communicate and work with others. These things cannot by taught by a standard curriculum, but have to be developed through the method of play. We deeply understand the importance of play and have designed the online course activities around that to allow children to have more freedom to play games at home with parents, also promote and enhance the relationship between parents and our children. Once these basics are learned at a young age, it sets children up for successthroughout their schooling and their life.

05 Feedback

It was so grateful and nice to talk to our children and help them with their learning.

Our children are doing an amazing job! Let’s moving on, making the learning process much more enjoyable and efficient.

We are big family!
