Were you impressed by the amazing performance of BIS Orchestra at the Winter Concert? How did our Orchestra grow into a confident group full of talents from just an extra curriculum club? We interviewed some of the Orchestra members to see what they would like to share.
Currently, the BIS Orchestra includes 45 members. Students play all kinds of instruments making up the four sections of any good orchestra – strings, woodwind, percussion and brass.
The members of the Orchestra vary from beginners all the way to experienced musicians and multi-instrumentalists. Whether starters or skillful players, all members are inspired by the togetherness of their orchestra and are engaged in every break, practicing their parts.
Playing in the Orchestra allows students an incredible opportunity to develop a number of skills and benefits. Advantages, in fact, which generate both immediate and lifelong achievements.
First of all, students develop their basic skills of rhythm, timbre, sound balance, structure of a piece of music, articulation, and tuning.
Secondly, young musicians learn to listen to each other. The orchestra is one of the most inspiring projects for developing teamwork skills.
Physically, playing an instrument increases coordination. One must learn to control multiple body parts in time with others, which constantly develops motor skills.
Mentally, music is a healthy outlet for emotions. A music education helps you find your inner self. With an instrument, you can convey and explore all sorts of ideas and emotions.
Furthermore, music training increases creativity and problem-solving skills, delivering real-life skills that society values.
Last but not least, music training builds confidence. Students should overcome the fears and learn how to perform in front of the audience. Learning to play an instrument also creates a sense of achievement that increases self-esteem.
