On October 18, Boston International School P4 students had a very special paper-cutting lesson with Grade 4 students from Wuxi Houzhai Certral Primary School. Paper cutting is a special lesson in Houzhai Primary School. It is a traditional folk art in China, which has a long history and has been enlisted into Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Student followed the teacher’s instructions: Fold the paper, draw patterns and cut it with scissors. Students from both schools communicated through the whole process and had a great time together.
In the end, all students took a group picture together with their works. Students from Houzhai Primary School also sent elegant paper cutting works to BIS P4 students as gifts.
Going forward, our school will have more similar activities that involve Chinese culture, so that our students will learn more about China, the country that they are living in right now.
