As the only one IB continuum International School in Wuxi, Boston International School adheres to the IB principal which gives much attention to develop students’ awareness of social responsibility and community service throughout their student life.
Every year, our PYP, MYP and DP students will spontaneous organize lots of charity and community service events, which reflects their IB learner profiles of Principled, Open-minded, Caring and Reflective.
During the past week, our elementary students and secondary students have both organized events that showed their sense of global citizenship.
Elementary ‘Fun Run’ Charitable Donation
The activity is initiated and organized by G5 students Nolan and Ray with support by P5 homeroom teachers. All the donation materials collected will be distributed to a school located in a pool village of Qinhai Province to help the 24 students via Red Cross Society of China in Xinwu district.
To encourage students furtherly, Ms. Ji Ming, Deputy Head of Xinwu District Red Cross Society visited BIS and joined in the activity personally, she awarded a donation certificate to appreciate and encourage students for their contribution to social charity. She said:” Contribution to charity is no matter how big, kindness to help and to be helped will help students grow and gain happiness.”
Plesstic Exhibition
All the plastic waste they collected is from the school campus or students and teachers’ households. The amount of plastic was big enough to let us build a plastic ocean, plastic dresses, plastic warning board and plastic wall. The students and teachers joined fun activities such as swimming in the plastic ocean and trying on the plastic dresses. We hope the impact of plastic waste would warn everyone to act immediately to produce one less piece of plastic. Start from today.
