Among the past academic years, BIS has developed two high-quality projects that are very appreciated by our students and parents, i.e. Boston Explorers and Parent Workshop. The projects have been pensioned due to COVID-19 pandemic. Now we are happy to announce the return of the two projects!
Boston Explorers Start Exploring!
We are so excited to have Boston Explorers back! We have started the first phase of Boston Explorers for this semester from this week.
On August 26th, we held the first B.E. Fair to give students and parents a more comprehensive view about all the extra-curriculum activities from over a hundred clubs and courses! Teachers and leaders to set up booths in our canteen, gym and EY building, promoting their clubs, teams and courses.
Welcome to Week 1 of Boston Explorers for this semester!
Thanks to the great effort of our teachers and staff in preparing for the BE session, we kicked off the first B.E. session of this semester with a great success on September 7th. On the first week, all students were oriented on the central quad by teachers leading the activities and started their happy after-school hour smoothly.
We are happy to hear inspiring responses from students and families about the quality of the offerings, the enthusiasm of the facilitators, and the overall energy of the program.
Parent Workshop – Exploring the IB Diploma
This workshop is aimed at parents with children currently in the IB Diploma or planning on enrolling in the program at BIS in the next few years. Starting from the basic knowledge of IBDP, Mr. Kirk first introduced parents about the strict standard that is raised for IB schools.
The IBDP core is constituted by three elements: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS).
He went on with the major introduction of the three parts. He introduced the structure of IBDP program and gave some guidance about how to choose the six subjects from the six DP groups。
As the only IB Continuum school in Wuxi, Boston International School is well qualified in DP courses and proud to have a strong faculty team. DP students in BIS will also have weekly College Counseling sessions. Their CAS progress and Extended Essays are also tracked and well guided to ensure students’ best academic performances.
The next Parent Workshop will be held on September 16th, presented by Mr. Carlos Arboleda, our Student Service Director and College Counselor. He will introduce and walk parents through the four years of intensive college preparation through to applying for universities. It will include the integration of PSAT, SAT and Khan Academy with college and career planning and success. A brief overview of general requirements for universities in major regions worldwide will also be provided.
