As the old saying goes: Food is the paramount necessity of the people. School canteen has always been the first priority for the school community. How to make sure our food is safe, nutritious, diversified while also meeting the needs of students from 25 countries all around the world?
Today, we are going to lead a tour for parents to learn more about the organization and operation of our canteen, ranging from purchase, examination, to cooking and dishing.
Upon dawn, the lights in the canteen were already illuminating before food and ingredients came. Dozens of kinds of vegetables, meat and fruits must be inspected carefully by the chef before delivered into the kitchen. The chef checked not only the quantity and the quality of the delivery, but also tested the temperatures of these products under standard procedures.
To guarantee food safety, the kitchen is under a closed-off management and equipped with a strict access control system. Meanwhile, every sector of inner kitchen area is specially charged by different people, with a second dress-changing and sterilization while entering fruits area and dishing area. Vegetables are washed by salted water and then rinsed and filtered several times.
Stick to the regulations issued by the Food and Drug Administration, we separate different materials with corresponding cutting boards and cutting tools. Red cutting boards for meat, yellow ones for poultry and green ones for vegetables.
We arrange daily menu in terms of the best nutrition, color presentation and taste for students.
The food is stocked in corresponding storages, like dry food storage, refrigerated storage and freezing storage. The food storage is strictly under supervision.
Warm food is guaranteed by insulation cans.
The canteen is equipped with UV lights to sterilize the air. All cutlery is cleaned and disinfected strictly. The dish-washing machine must reach the temperature of over 80 degree. Afterwards, the cutlery is going through a second round of sterilization.
We keep every food for 48 hours in order to ensure its security.
The first batch of food is cooked and put into the insulation cans, fruits into the refrigerators before the second batch is being cooked an hour later. You may wonder why we separate same food into two batches to cook? The answer is to avoid taste loss and guarantee both the freshness and flavor of the food.
To satisfy students and teachers from all around the world, the school canteen provides with diversified choices: Chinese food, western food, special food and notorious substitutes for vegetarians.
Sticking to the principal of offering every student safe and nutritious food, senior nutritionists from Sodexo (a French food services giant among Fortune 500 Companies) are hired to review the food company and help students foster a healthy lifestyle. Our food is guaranteed with nutrition, flavor and taste while with low oil, less salt and sugar, and without MSG.The school has organized a food management team to examine the canteen every week. The kitchen is covered with live CCTV that directly connected with the Food and Drug Administration to ensure a transparent kitchen.We believe that safe, sound and satisfactory food services is necessary for students and teachers to enjoy their study and work. We also welcome supervision and rational suggestions from our parents. We are willing to work with our parents to guarantee the healthy growth of our students!
